Publicist, Strategist and Writer
Randy Ray is a publicist with more
than 30 years of experience in the writing business.
His specialty is helping businesses, authors, publishers,
associations and charities secure interviews, feature
stories, and reviews in some of the most important
broadcast and print media in Canada, including CBC
Radio, The Globe & Mail, The Toronto
Star, CTV News and Global Television.
Unlike most publicists, Randy – an experienced
Canadian journalist, freelance writer and best-selling
author – has worked on both sides of the fence.
As a reporter for 13 years with The London Free
Press, he has pitched hundreds of story ideas
and developed a keen sense for news and feature ideas
that are worthy of coverage.
As a result, Randy knows better than most what it
takes to grab the attention of the editors, book reviewers
and TV and radio producers across Canada who will
give a project publicity. And thanks to his extensive
and up-to-date list of media contacts, he knows which
editors and producers to approach.
Randy operates his own publicity business (www.randyray.ca)
and is also a regular contributor to The Globe
& Mail, Ottawa Citizen, CHILL
Magazine, Forever Young Newspaper and
Capital Parent Newspapers. He has co-written
nine books about Canada (www.triviaguys.com)
and is publicity director for Ottawa Independent Writers,
which represents more than 160 Ottawa-area authors,
freelance writers, editors and illustrators.
Randy and his wife Janis have three sons. Randy enjoys
travel, home renovations, playing the drums and visiting
a cottage he co-owns near Peterborough, Ontario.
